The remedies provided in this article are completely natural and have no side effects in normal circumstances and can be taken regardless of the cause. Most of the time, the pain goes away with simple home remedies.

The common causes of stomach pain are as follows:

  • Excess secretion of gastric juices
  • Indigestion
  • Normal cramps
  • Constipation
  • A stomach virus
  • Gastritis, which is caused by bacteria
  • Menstrual cramps

Other medical conditions that can cause abdominal pain could be irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), food allergies, food poisoning, gas, or Crohn’s disease. Ulcers, pelvic inflammations, hernia, gallstones, kidney stones, appendicitis, endometriosis, and GERD are also other medical conditions causing abdominal pain.

If you find you are feeling dehydrated, have a fever, are vomiting for more than 2 days, feel like urinating often, and urination is painful, then make sure you visit the doctor immediately. Getting treatment is essential because it is possible that your abdominal pain could be a cause of another underlying health issue you aren’t aware of.

Here are a few natural abdominal pain remedies you can try at home

Lemon water : If you have overeaten or facing indigestion, then this remedy can help. Lemon is an acidic fruit and can stimulate the release of gastric juice. This will offer relief from indigestion. To make it take a glass of lukewarm water, squeeze a fresh lemon in the water. Add a little sugar as per as your comfort (if needed). Mix properly and then drink it.

Chamomile tea : Chamomile can be very effective against common bacteria that cause inflammation in the stomach lining. Such a tea is also effective against other factors like inflammation due to excessive HCl. To make the tea use a chamomile tea bag or 2 tsp of chamomile leaves. Boil 200 ml of water and then pour it over the tea. Stir it and then let it steep for 5 minutes. Strain and enjoy a cup of chamomile tea.

Hot water treatment : If you feel that the pain is caused by external factors like cramps or fat shrink then you may want to try this. Use a hot water bag to find relief from unknown injuries, cramps, and other similar factors.

Mint tea : Mint tea can be a great remedy to help your stomach muscles relax and it will also help you in the case of indigestion as it stimulates the flow of bile, which in turn, ensures proper digestion. To prepare mint tea, take a handful of fresh mint leaves or 1-2 teaspoons of dried mint. Cover them with hot water and steep for 10 minutes. Drink it slowly while it is moderately hot. If you are using fresh mint leaves then you may chew it for stomach pain relief.

Rice water : The excess water left after cooking rice can work to heal abdominal pains. Rice water acts as a soothing cover over the lining of your stomach. It acts as a demulcent that helps to relieve the inflammation caused due to excess digestive juice. To prepare rice water, boil rice in twice the normal amount of water. When you see the water turn milky and dense, take it off the heat. Let it stay for 3 to 4 minutes. You can pour some of the water in a glass, add a pinch of salt or honey if you want to and then drink it. Rice water is one of the best abdominal pain remedies.

Other than the remedies mentioned above, you should take the following precautions until you feel better.

  • Avoid eating foods that are high in fat. High-fat foods tend to increase abdominal pain.
  • Do not use aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines, such as ibuprofen and naproxen. These medicines may irritate your stomach and further increase your pain.
  • Try eating several small meals instead of 2 or 3 large ones. Eat mild food, such as rice, dry toast or crackers, bananas, and apple sauce. Do not eat spicy food, other fruits, alcohol, and drinks that have caffeine at least 48 hours after all symptoms of abdominal pain have gone away.
  • Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration. Taking small, recurrent drinks of a water or a beverage will be easier on your stomach than drinking a whole glass at once. Do not drink fizzy or drinks that have caffeine, such as soda pop or coffee.
  • Rest until you are feeling better.

Try these quick and easy abdominal pain remedies at home, but remember if the pain is severe and you find you are vomiting or suffering from diarrhea, see a doctor immediately.
