Different types of dentures
A denture is a type of replacement for missing teeth and the surrounding tissues that can be removed easily. Mainly, there are two types of dentures: partial and complete dentures. Complete dentures are used for people when all their teeth go missing, and partial dentures are used as a replacement for the same.
Traditional complete full dentures
Complete dentures ensure that they replace all of the patient’s teeth. They are placed right on top of the gums as opposed to their counterparts, dental bridges, which are inserted in between the existing teeth. These dentures are placed approximately eight to twelve weeks after the initial extraction of teeth.
Partial dentures
Partial dentures are typically made up of acrylic material. These are generally inserted when the patient has some natural teeth remaining. Typically, this is carried out when one or more teeth are still present in both the jaws. It is like a base that is colored in pink and is also attached to a metal piece.
Custom dentures
Custom dentures are made as per your teeth and are generally a more expensive option as compared to the others. Since it is made based on your teeth, it looks natural and effortless.
Immediate dentures
Immediate dentures are for people who require it almost immediately. They can be placed on the same day itself once the teeth have been removed or extracted. However, not everybody can get this type of denture.
Implant supported dentures
As the name suggests, implant-supported dentures are used in order to securely support a denture. This denture does not only provide too much support as for a solid foundation but also helps the denture look completely seamless and natural.
Snap-in dentures
When you are looking for stable dentures, this is ideal for you. They are put securely in the right place with the support of anchors that are put in the teeth which are still in place. Their best feature is actually the locator attachments that are embedded near the tissue. This makes them quite easy to use, and they are even removable.
Overdentures
Overdentures are put above the gums and are held tightly with the help of dental implants. It is ideally put above or below the lower jaw, depending on the need of the patient. They are also quite convenient because these dentures can be removed easily.
Upper dentures
Upper dentures are, just as the name suggests, dentures right above the upper teeth. If the upper jaw has certain missing teeth that need to be replaced, these dentures are the best choice for you.
Economy dentures
Economy dentures are definitely one of the most affordable types of dentures, and they provide a generic fit. However, they need to be secured with an adhesive as they do not provide a perfect fit and may come out easily.
Depending on your requirement, you can pick out the ideal dentures.
